Using "Tapping" as a Nervous System Reset

Hey there, Sweet Sisters!

Buckle up because we've got a special guest in the house today – Bre Wolta, here to show us all how to give your nervous system a much-needed reboot when those Fight or Flight, Freeze or Fawn feelings come knocking.

Bre Wolta is a Relationship Clarity coach and with that she brings many different tools to the table for healing from past trauma and anxiety. I was new to this idea of "Tapping" and I wanted to learn more, mainly because when I am in times of borderline anxiety attacks, I naturally want to tap or pat my chest. I never understood why, but it always brought me a bit of peace and calm in those moments. Something told me this tapping technique might help me.

In one of our newest Shattered to Unbreakable Podcast Episodes, we had Bre as a guest and she actually walked us through a routine of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping. You can see it on video on YouTube on the Reclaim Channel OR on Spotify on the Shattered to Unbreakable Podcast Episode so go check it out if you haven't already.

So what is this tapping thing anyway? Let's dive into some facts. EFT tapping is a form of psychological acupressure that involves stimulating specific meridian points on the body by tapping on them with your fingertips. Research suggests that EFT tapping can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and other emotional issues by restoring balance to the body's energy system.

This isn't just hooky stuff that someone made up either, there is scientific fact backing this up. Studies have shown that tapping on these specific points can help reduce cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress, and promote relaxation. Additionally, tapping has been found to stimulate the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, which can help improve mood and reduce feelings of anxiety.

But it doesn't stop there. Tapping has also been found to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for promoting rest and relaxation. This can help counteract the effects of the sympathetic nervous system, which is often activated during times of stress or anxiety.

This is just another tool to put in your arsenal of anxiety fighting, depression crushing remedies for having a more peaceful and fulfilled life! Reclaim it!
